Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our

healthcare team. LPNs play a critical role in providing direct patient care under the supervision

of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. As an LPN, you will be responsible for delivering

high-quality nursing care to patients, administering medications, and collaborating with the

healthcare team to promote the well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status,

including gathering vital signs, reviewing medical history, and assessing symptoms, to

develop individualized care plans.

2. Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by

healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy, proper dosage, and adherence to established

protocols.

3. Wound Care: Perform wound care and dressing changes as needed, monitoring healing

progress and reporting any signs of infection or complications to the nursing team.

4. IV Therapy: Assist with the setup and maintenance of intravenous (IV) therapy,

including administering IV medications and monitoring patients for any adverse

reactions.

5. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions,

treatment plans, medications, and self-care techniques to promote optimal health

outcomes and empower patients to manage their conditions effectively.

6. Clinical Procedures: Assist physicians and registered nurses with various clinical

procedures, such as catheterization, specimen collection, and respiratory treatments,

ensuring patient comfort and safety.

7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient

assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in electronic medical records

(EMR) or paper charts, in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational

policies.

8. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with members of the healthcare team, including

physicians, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and other allied health

professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.

9. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies,

following established protocols and providing life-saving interventions as necessary to

stabilize patients until further assistance arrives.

10. Infection Control: Adhere to infection control practices and protocols to prevent the

spread of infections within healthcare settings, including proper hand hygiene, use of

personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental sanitation.

Qualifications:

- Licensure: Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state

of practice, with a clear record of good standing with the state board of nursing.

- Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program, leading to a diploma,

certificate, or associate degree in practical nursing.

- Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is preferred but not

required; new graduates are welcome to apply.

- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting patient assessments, administering

medications, performing clinical procedures, and providing direct patient care in

accordance with nursing standards and best practices.

- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to

effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

- Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity

to make sound clinical judgments and prioritize tasks in fast-paced environments.

- Compassion: Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and sensitivity in caring for patients

of diverse backgrounds and cultures, especially those facing illness, injury, or end-of-life

care.

- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs, clinical situations, and

organizational priorities, while maintaining professionalism and a commitment to quality

care.

- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems

and other healthcare technology tools for documentation and communication purposes.
